What is ISO 9001 (QMS)

ISO 9000 Certification is a family of Quality Management System (QMS). This standard helps to fulfill the need of customer and other stakeholders related to the product or service. ISO 9001:2015 deals with the fundamentals of quality management system. This family of standard include the seven quality management principle.

ISO 9001 Certification deals with the requirement that organization wishing to meet the standard must fulfill. Third-party certification bodies provide independent conformation that organisation meet the requirement of ISO 9001. More than one million organisation worldwide are independently certified . This large number usages make ISO 9001 one of the most widely used management tool in the whole world

CERTIFICATION

The International Organisation for Standardization(ISO) does not certify the organisation itself. That is why the need for certification bodies come into existence. The authorities audit the organisation and upon success, issue ISO 9001 certification. Many countries have formed accreditation bodies to authorize certification bodies. Both accreditation and certification bodies charge a fee for their services. Certification bodies themselves operate under another quality standard, ISO/IEC17021, while accreditation bodies operate under ISO/IEC 17011.

AUDITING

There are two types of verification requires to become registered to the standard:-

  • External audit:- Auditing by an international certification body.
  • Internal audit:- Audits by internal staff trained for this purpose

The main aim of an audit is a continual process of review and assessment to verify that the system is working correctly, to find out the problem and to rectify them.
